Our contractor and a friend of a friend took the fluffies ones.  A random person took the last one.  We asked a few questions to make sure that she was legit and wasn’t going to test some exotic drug on her or feed her to a snake.

Cat and I have been liberally using our Netflix free trial having watched House Bunny (her choice), Shrink (a new Kevin Spacey movie), and the first six episodes of Legend of the Seeker.  Between that and clearance candy corn, I’m feeling pretty blah this morning.  Hopefully, I will get motivated.

Cat has rescued a vehemently outdoor cat and her three kittens from a nearby mobile home park.  They are in our garage!  We are going to trap-neuter-return the mother since she isn’t particularly sociable and are trying to find home for the kitten.  Take a look:

I had the hair brained scheme to purchase a very large pumpkin at a low price.  It turns out that the best pumpkins to eat are a different type than the carving pumpkins and that the smaller the pumpkin the more tender the meat but we made some good pumpkin pies, pancakes, etc. from this 75 pound pumpkin that I purchase for $15… nice!

Here is the process:  cut up the pumpkin, cut into cubes, remove the rind (I used a potato peeler), boil, and then process into puree.  This is going to give you a thinner puree than if you were to bake the cubes of pumpkin meat; it’s better for soups, etc. than for pies but you can compensate with less water in the recipe.

As you can see, we made soup, pancakes, and pie.  I also made some pretty decent pumpkin latte.  As it happens, Cat really doesn’t like pumpkin too much, so we were left with more pumpkin than we could really eat… a lot more.  We are keeping some in the freezer but couldn’t keep it all.  The rest we have given away or unfortunately pitched.  Moral of the story is make sure when you buy ginormous amounts of food that everyone likes it.

Cat and I have never had trick or treaters having lived in the Grayco Apartment building at this time last year.  We watched the movie What Dreams May Come while waiting for the costumed little ones.  Amazingly, we only had two trick or treaters.  From talk at the train station the next day depending on where you live in Etown you can 2 or 25 of them.

Cat and I went to see Joey’s last soccer game at Fulton Elementary.  Unfortunately his team lost but they have been playing great soccer and improving as the season has gone along.  Joey is a real athlete is an important contributing member of the team.

Yesterday, we spoke with Cat’s dad who unbenounced to us had a layover in Newark on the way to Miami.  We decided to make the three hour drive (beginning at 4:30 in the morning) and meet him and his wife there to catch up.  It’s a long drive but it’s better than the nine hour drive to Maine!  We had a great time and Cat was really excited to see dad so spontaneously.

Also last minute, we called a good friend of mine who lives in New York City and were able to head over his way to see his apartment and go out to lunch.  He lives in a really nice neighborhood in New York City; it was refreshing to see such a great urban area.

I stumbled upon a stray cat, who came to be known by us as Fabulous.  Of course, I called Cat to get the orders on what I should do.  I was in the process of stuffing this creature in my car, however, realizing the answer was going to be bring it home and we’ll make sure it gets a place to live.  I asked around and only found that it was a cat that roamed the neighborhood but didn’t really have a home, so I proceeding with snagging the cat and taking it home.

She took pretty kindly to me resting on my lap the whole way home.  I stopped to pick up some cat treats, which also made me rather popular with the cat.  I named this mild mannered wonder fabulous.  She unfortunately is missing an eye.

We kept her separate from Einstein in case they would give each other any diseases and ultimately took Fabulous into the human league.  We told them that if they were to euthanize her that they should give us a call and we would adopt her since we didn’t want the shelter to kill her.  Hope and pray that a good family takes her and gives Fabulous the care that she needs and deserves.

Cat and I have been going back to my old church where I am a member/partner there, Lancaster County Bible Church.  Cat was initially skeptical but has been enjoying it.  We went to the newcomers class so that we could get a better feel for the church and start to figure out whether we want to make this our church home for good or not.  We enjoyed ourselves, got free refreshments :) , and ran into a girl I knew from elementary school who was just starting up with church at LCBC herself.  That was kinda neat that she remembered me.  I was ‘famous’ for my Elvis impressions, which she told my wife, her boyfriend, and her grandparents about.  She happens to live right in Etown as well, so we exchanged contact information if we wanted to start a church LIFE Group together at some point.

Last year we had dinner with Mammal and a bunch of family members at TJ Rockwell’s in Elizabethtown.  This year, it was the same location only a lot smaller.  We met up with mammal and my mom after church and had lunch with them celebrating her birthday.  Cat ordered what my mom ordered after seeing how good it was and amazingly, I ordered what mammal did was without knowing it.
